SILENT ART AUCTION AIDS KATRINA RELIEF


OCT. 14, 2005--To benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina, the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Art department is hosting a silent art auction. The auction is set for Oct. 26 and 27 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in Gallery 101 of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building.

"The art faculty really wanted to do something for relief effort," said Susie Zimmer of the UW-RF art department.

All proceeds raised from this event will go to the American Red Cross hurricane relief fund.

Chancellor Don Betz will speak briefly at the opening reception for the auction on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 9 a.m.

Interested individuals can bid on art donated by alumni, faculty, former visiting artists and emeriti. High bidders will be informed on Friday Oct. 28 and can pick up their artwork the same day, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and also from 7 to 9 p.m.
