Artists Invited to Community Salon Sept. 19
SEPT. 9, 2005--Artists, writers, musicians, performers and dancers are invited to participate in an Artists Conversation to explore the topic of "Cultivating Community" with other individuals on Sept. 19 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Alumni Room of South Hall at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
"Cultivating Community" is the theme of a multi-faceted project sponsored the the UW-River Falls College of Arts and Sciences, the St. Croix Valley Community Foundation and the Phipps Center for the Arts as well as several area arts organizations, including Community Arts Base of River Falls. Events planned for the Cultivating Community project include an exhibition Nov. 11 to Dec. 31 at the Phipps with an opening reception Nov. 11 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.; a community forum at 7 p.m. on Nov. 29 at the Phipps; and an open microphone event at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 2 at the Phipps. All events are free and open to the public.
Participants in the Artists Conversations will find motivation and support from listening to others' ideas and sharing their own at this event. Participation in this event is not required to submit works for the exhibition or the open microphone event. The Artists Conversation at UW-RF is facilitated by art Professor Lynn Jermal.
