Reception Honors Diversity

MAY 13, 2005--The second annual University of Wisconsin-River Falls Diversity
Recognition Reception took place on April 24 at Brandy's on the UW-RF
campus.
Two awards were given in three categories: outstanding volunteer, outstanding
leader and outstanding faculty or staff.
Outgoing Dean for Student Development and Campus Diversity Roger Ballou
received a special award for lifetime commitment to diversity. Ballou
will be returning to the classroom and private practice, teaching at Adler
Graduate School of Minnesota and working as a licensed marriage and family
therapist at Counseling Psychologists of Woodbury, Minn.
The following students received awards at the reception and are listed
by name, hometown and award:
Paul Bladl, Two Rivers, outstanding volunteer
Abigail Cook, Rice Lake, outstanding leader
Cali Smithback, Cambridge, distinguished volunteer
Chawntao Yang, Sun Prairie, distinguished leader
Carol Xiong, St. Paul, Minn., outstanding leader
Chaonhia Xiong, Blaine, Minn., outstanding volunteer
Vanesai Xiong, St. Paul, Minn., outstanding volunteer.
The following faculty received awards at the reception and are listed
by name, hometown and award:
Linda Alvarez, River Falls, distinguished faculty/staff
Miriam Huffman, River Falls, outstanding faculty/staff
Davida Alperin, St. Paul, Minn., outstanding faculty/staff
Tyra Nelson, Oakdale, Minn., outstanding faculty/staff.
