Campus Award Ceremonies Span April, May

APRIL 8, 2005--Spring marks the end of a successful academic year, and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls is celebrating the milestones of its students, faculty and staff with several award and recognition ceremonies in April and May.

The College of Arts and Sciences Awards Reception to honor student and faculty scholarship and service is April 13 in the lobby of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building. The event begins at 4:30 p.m. with a reception, followed by the awards ceremony at 5 p.m. The college will award three scholarships, one each for arts and humanities, social sciences, and sciences and mathematics. The college will also present three service awards for university, community and professional service. For more information call 715/425-3777.

The All-Campus Awards Reception is April 19 at 7 p.m. in the River Room of Rodli Commons. Awards to be bestowed on faculty, staff and students include the 2005 Chancellor’s Award for students, which recognizes leadership, scholarship and service to UW-RF. In addition Chancellor’s Awards for outstanding accomplishment and service to the University for classified staff and academic staff will be awarded. The distinguished teacher of the year and the advisor of the year will also be recognized at the ceremony. For more information, call 715/425-3201.

The College of Education and Professional Studies Awards Reception is April 21 at 6 p.m. in River Room of Rodli Commons. Reception and refreshments follow in the Blue Room. The college will present academic honors, departmental and program awards, outstanding student awards, the outstanding faculty member award, and a Phi Delta Kappa award. The College of Arts and Sciences will hold its student awards reception April 26, beginning with a dessert reception at 6 p.m. in the lobby and Gallery 101 of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building. The awards presentation is at 7 p.m. in the Abbott Concert Hall. Students will be awarded academic merit awards, scholarship, other college awards, and individual departmental awards. The College of Business and Economics reception for its graduates (both undergraduates and masters of management) and current students is April 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the River Room of Rodli Commons. The program follows at 7 p.m. in the Blue Room. Awards include academic merit honors, departmental and program awards, scholarship recipients, and induction to Sigma Beta Delta (business, management and administration honor society). A diversity recognition reception will be April 28 at 4:30 p.m. in Brandy’s at the Hagestad Student Center. The event will give recognition and appreciation to those who have contributed and spread diversity and multicultural awareness throughout campus. The College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences will recognize its faculty, staff and students on April 28 in Rodli Commons. A reception is at 5 p.m., followed by dinner and the recognition program at 5:45p.m. The college will award UW-RF Foundation and CAFES scholarships, academic merit awards, outstanding CAFES senior, highest CAFES GPA, the outstanding CAFES teacher, as well as recogize a distinguished agriculturalist from the community. A reception to honor 2005 retirees from UW-River Falls will be held on May 2 at 7 p.m. in Rodli Commons. The ceremony honors retirements from the classified, academic staff and faculty employee classifications. For more information, call 715/425-3201.

Spring commencement is May 14, with two ceremonies, at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Robert P. Knowles Physical Education and Recreation Center. The morning ceremony presents the graduates of the colleges of agriculture, food and environmental sciences, business and economics, and graduate studies. The afternoon session presents the graduates of the colleges of arts and sciences and education and professional studies.
