Women's History Presented in Music

FEB. 25, 2005--Folk singer and storyteller Gerri Gribi will perform "A Musical Romp Through Women's History" at 7 p.m. March 9 in the Sanford Syse Theatre of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building at UW-River Falls.

Gribi’s songs and stories celebrate women’s diverse heritage from Colonial times to the present, including women who defied stereotypes, black women fighting slavery, a woman who disguised herself as a man to get into the Navy, and Native American women who inspired the American women’s rights movement and the suffragists. The audience will meet these and other remarkable women during this uplifting, often hilarious performance, which involves the audience in a yodeling lesson!

Free tickets are available at the University Theatre box office before 3 p.m the day of the performance. A limited number of tickets are available, and remaining tickets will be available at the door 30 minutes prior to the performance

Sponsored by the UW-River Falls Women’s Studies Program, the concert is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Barbara Werner at 715/425-4895.
