Irish Music Performance Set


FEB. 25, 2005--The UW-River Falls Wyman Series presents a show of Irish Celtic music and dance performed by renowned folk artist Laura MacKenzie and the Lads at 7 p.m. on March 8 at the River Falls Middle School, 230 N. 9th Street.

MacKenzie has been recognized as a master folk artist by the Minnesota State Arts Board. She began playing traditional Irish music at ceilis (dances or social gatherings) within the St. Paul Irish-American community. She performs music from Ireland, Scotland, England, France and Northern Spain on a dazzling array of wind-powered instruments, including flutes, whistles, concertina, bagpipes as well as voice.

She has recorded with diverse ensembles from Boiled in Lead to Lorie Line’s Pop Chamber Orchestra. For more information on MacKenzie visit www.lauramackenzie.com.
