Health & Human Performance Majors of the Year Named at UW-RF

DEC. 17, 2004--Four UW-River Falls seniors will be recognized as the "Major
of the Year" on April 12-16 in Chicago at the national convention
of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and
Dance National (AAHPERD).
UW-RF students who will receive the Major of the Year award are Crystal
Cunningham from Lakeland, Minn.; Kurran Sagan from Elk River, Minn.; Justin
Schuh from Sheboygan, Wis.; and Corey Strinmoen from Spring Grove, Minn.
The award recognizes outstanding students majoring in K-12 physical education,
sports recreation and management, athletic training and health education.
UW-River Falls Health and Human Performance faculty and staff vote on
nominees to send to the National Association for Sports and Physical Education
(K-12 phyiscal ecducation and health and human performance studies) and
to the American Association for Health Education.
AAPERD recognizes one candidate from each relevant degree program at each
university. "It is quite an honor our students in the Health and
Human Performance Department to be named "Major of the Year,"
says UW-River Falls professor of Health and Human Performance Faye Perkins.
In order to receive the award, students must achieve junior or senior
standing, obtain a 3.0 or better G.P. A., and must provide service to
their school or community for a minimum of two years during their undergraduate
career.
