UW Regents to Recommend Finalists for UW-RF Chancellor
DEC. 10, 2004--A special University of Wisconsin Board of Regents subcommittee
will meet Dec. 20 to hear recommendations on naming five finalists for
the chancellor’s position at UW-River Falls.
The regents will gather at 12:45 p.m. in Room 140 of the Kleinpell Fine
Arts Building on the UW-RF campus. They will be joined by UW System President
Kevin Reilly.
The meeting will adjourn into closed session to hear the recommendations
for finalists from a campus and community search-and-screen committee.
The committee is expected to recommend finalists after having conducted
preliminary interviews with semi-finalists.
The committee was appointed following the death of Chancellor Ann Lydecker
last March. The current interim chancellor is Virgil Nylander.
With the assistance of a national search consultant, UW-RF received numerous
applications for the position from very qualified candidates.
The finalists should be publicly announced after Jan. 1 by Reilly and
will visit the campus at the beginning of February. Those visits will
provide opportunities for campus and community members to meet the finalists
and give the committee feedback.
Reilly and the Regents subcommittee will interview the five finalists
following the campus visits and make their recommendation to the Board
of Regents.
A new UW-RF chancellor likely will be named by the Board of Regents at
its regular meeting on March 11.
