Student Fundraisers Help Homeless, Hospital
DEC. 3, 2004--Recent holiday fundraisers held by UW-River Falls students
nearly met their goals.
The UW-River Falls organization Campus and Community Fighting Hunger
and Homelessness organized a student sleep-out the week of Nov. 15. Some
135 people participated in the sleep-out and raised $1,700. All proceeds
go to charity organizations that help people who are hungry and homeless.
Smiles 4 Kids, the newest and biggest student organization at the University
of Wisconsin-River Falls, organized a dance marathon in the Robert P.
Knowles Education and Recreation Center on Nov. 20 to raise money for
Gillette Children's Hospital in St. Paul. About 180 students and community
members participated in the event and raised more than $10,000.
