Center for Economic Research Hosts Free Seminar

NOV. 18, 2004--The UW-River Falls Center for Economic Research is holding a free seminar analyzing the financial statements of two well-known national retailers on Dec. 10 at 3:15 p.m. in Room 321 of South Hall.

Dawn Hukai, a professor of accounting at UW-RF, will present, "Gap Inc. and The Limited, Inc.: An Introduction to Financial Statement Ratio Analysis." The presentation gives students the opportunity to conduct basic financial statement analysis using financial statements from two companies in the retail clothing industry.

The seminar offers a view of the importance of accounting information for financial prediction and decision-making. Hukai will discuss the results of financial statement ratio computations from the two companies and how the statements relate to the actual change in stock prices over time.

The seminar is free and open to the public. The presentation will be preceded by refreshments at 3 p.m. in Room 317 of South Hall.
