Seminar Set on Small Companies' R&D
NOV. 12, 2004--The UW-River Falls Center for Economic Research is holding
a seminar summarizing the steps for new product development from idea
generation to commercialization on Dec. 3 at 3:15 p.m. in Room 321 of
South Hall.
Majid Entezarian, research and development engineering manager of Phillips
Plastics Technology Center in Prescott, Wis., will present, "Development
Guidelines for R & D Management for Small Companies."
Entezarian's presentation will examine the requirements for R & D
organizations and the recent approach to R&D known as open innovation.
Entezarian also will discuss the challenges posed to innovation and how
to become a market leader through offering better product variety in today's
world.
Entezarian received his Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from
McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He continued research in a post-doctoral
position for two years and as a research assistant for one year at McGill
University. Entezarian worked at PyroGenesis Inc. as a research engineer
while completing his Ph.D. work and has collaborated with NRC, AECL, and
Hydro-Quebec.
Joining Phillips Plastics in 1999, Entezarian was senior ceramic engineer
before entering into his current position. Entezarian has achieved several
patents and is published in scientific journals. He is also a student
in the master of management program at UW-RF and is planning to graduate
in December.
The seminar is free and open to the public. The presentation will be preceded
by refreshments at 3 p.m. in Room 317 of South Hall. For more information
