UW-RF Student Presents Senior Art Exhibit
NOV. 5, 2004--UW-River Falls' student Gregori Starrett exhibits a collection
of work, "Art as Public Space," at Gallery 101 in the Klienpell
Fine Arts Building, Nov. 8-14.
Majoring in fine arts, Starrett incorporates photography, clay, painting,
mixed media installation and living sculpture to create a diverse mix
of artwork to reflect art's role in everyday, public life.
Based on Starrett's semester abroad experience in Europe, current events
and the Art in Public Places Program initiated by the National Endowment
for the Arts, his work presents art as a public form of expression. Starrett
also draws from artists he credits as visual and philosophical influences,
such as Robert Irwin, Robert Frank, Doze Green and Barry McGee.
