About
the St. Croix River Institute
The St. Croix River Institute is a collaborative effort between the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and the National Park Service. The expertise and resources of the two institutions will build and strengthen stewardship efforts throughout the St. Croix Scenic Riverway.
Mission
The mission is to understand and sustain the St. Croix River and river valley communities by connecting people with the St. Croix River through programs and classes.
Where is the St. Croix River?
Located on the eastern side of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area in
Minnesota and in the northwestern corner of Wisconsin, the scenic St.
Croix River and its valley form the boundary between Wisconsin and Minnesota
for more than 125 miles. Historic towns with vibrant shopping districts, state
and local parks, arts centers and excellent schools make the valley a
great place to live and a wonderful area to explore. (Google
