| | | Details | This course, offered concurrently with TED 461, is not required for the Reading Teacher Certificate or the MSEA?Reading degree, but is required for other programs in the Graduate School. READ 661 explores theoretical, historical and sociological perspectives on the foundations of literacy, literacy disorders, holistic assessment and intervention. Emphasis is on the importance of individual differences in reading proficiency, the causes of literacy disorders, and methods for the improvement of general and specific reading difficulties. This course will examine the changing roles of family, community, and institutions in literacy acquisition as a process, as well as the impact of technology. Prerequisites: graduate school admission. |
