| | | Details | A study of representative American women writers of high literary merit representing Black, Native American, Asian, and Hispanic backgrounds. This course will explore the racial, ethnic, and sexual oppression experienced by women of color in American history as it is expressed in literature. The emphasis will be on twentieth-century literature, with special attention to a basic American literary theme: the search for personal identity. Co-listed as WMST 443/643. Prerequisite: Senior standing and completion of CA requirement. (F, or Sp, alternate years) |
