DetailsStudents will learn why and how nations trade, and why and how people's welfare is influenced by trade. Such issues as fairness in trade, job protection, environmental regulation and international competitiveness, and industrial policy will be addressed and explored. Effectiveness of such trade policies as tariffs, quotas, voluntary export restrictions, and more will be evaluated. Pros and cons of regional trading arrangements such as NAFTA and European Economic Integration, as well as the role of the World Trade Organization, will also be discussed. Prerequisite: ECON 201.(Not offered on a yearly basis)
