Experience SOS!

Senior Outreach Studies is a lifelong learning program for residents of the St. Croix Valley area. Now in its 23rd year, SOS offers a lecture series as well as a variety of trips to area theater and cultural events. Join in our relaxed, engaged learning community!

Morning with a Professor

The SOS "Morning with a Professor" lecture series is designed to refresh and stimulate your mind. University professors and community members share their expertise, knowledge and opinions on a broad variety of topics including current and historical events, contemporary issues, personal experiences. Each two hour session includes a thought provoking presentation, coffee break with light refreshments, and the opportunity to share your own insights and inquiries in an open "question and answer" forum.

Morning with a Professor series will be held Tuesday mornings, 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. October 6 through November 10, 2009 and March 23 through April 27, 2010. Check back for updates regarding topics and presenters. Past topics and presenters include:

  • Quantum Physics with Dr. Matthew Vonk

  • The Threat of a Bird Flu Pandemic with Dr. Karen Klyczek

  • The State of the Economy: Fiscal Stimulus, Bank Nationalization, Auto Bailout with Dr. Glenn Potts

  • Capital Punishment: Offender-Victim Relationship with Dr. Rich Wallace
