Dissemination of Policy

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls is committed to the implementation of equal employment opportunity and for the elimination of discrimination and recognizes the need to take affirmative action where underutilization exists. The University maintains a written Affirmative Action Plan, which includes an analysis of utilization and goals to increase the employment of underrepresented or underutilized protected groups of persons. The Equity, Affirmative Action and Compliance website (www.uwrf.edu/oec) was updated and expanded during the summer of 2006. Relevant policies and material, including AA Plan narratives, are posted on the site. In addition, the Affirmative Action Plan, in whole or in part, is distributed in the following manner internally:

  • A complete copy is on file in the Office of Equity, Affirmative Action and Compliance, Library, and in the Chancellor's Office.
  • The Narrative without Appendices is on file in the Human Resources Department and available upon request.
  • Relevant portions of the narrative and data are on file in the offices of the Deans of the Colleges as well as assistant, associate, and full Vice Chancellors.
  • Senior management and supervisory personnel are periodically updated through administrative meetings and/or in writing to explain and update the plan, the intent of the policy and individual responsibility for effective implementation.
  • All recruitment material contains and includes the nondiscrimination clause.
  • Affirmative Action policies are posted on public bulletin boards throughout campus, including outside the Office of Equity, Affirmative Action and Compliance, Human Resources Department, and other appropriate locations.

The Policy Statement on Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunities is published on the University of Wisconsin-River Falls website, in the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Faculty Handbook, and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Classified Employee Handbook. All new employees receive copies of either the Faculty Handbook or the Classified Handbook, as appropriate, at the time of employment. Handbook materials are also on the University website. The annual update of the Affirmative Action Plan includes an analysis of progress made, together with recommendations for corrective actions necessary to meet expected goals and objectives. Externally, the policy is disseminated in the following manner:

  • All recruitment sources are informed of the policy, including stating that the University actively recruits women and minorities for every position.
  • The equal opportunity clause is incorporated in all purchase orders, leases, contracts, etc. covered by Executive Order No. 11246, as amended and its implementing regulations.
