State Laws and RegulationsWisconsin Fair Employment Law (WI Statutes Section 111.31-111.395)This law provides that it is unlawful for the employer to discriminate against employees and job applicants because of age, ancestry, arrest or conviction record, color, creed, disability, genetic testing, honesty testing, marital status, membership in U.S. or Wisconsin military forces, national origin, pregnancy or childbirth, race, sex, sexual orientation, use or nonuse of lawful products off the employer's premises during non-working hours. Employees may not be harassed in the workplace based on their protected status nor retaliated against for filing a complaint, for assisting with a complaint, or for opposing discrimination in the workplace. Wisconsin Discrimination in Post Secondary Education Law (WI Statutes Section 101.223)This statute prohibits discrimination because of physical condition or a developmental disability in Wisconsin 's post secondary education. Wisconsin Statute 36.12: Student Discrimination ProhibitedThis statute provides that no student may be denied admission, participation, benefits or discriminated against in any service, program, course or facility of the system or its institutions because of student's race, color, creed, religion, sex, national origin, disability, ancestry, age, sexual orientation, pregnancy, marital or parental status. |
