Voter Registration Information

You must be registered before you can vote. Anyone who is at least 18 years of age, is a U.S. citizen, has lived at their current address for ten days and has not lost the right to vote can register and vote. City residents can register in person at City Hall. To register, you will be asked to provide your Driver’s License number. If you do not have a Driver's License, you may use the last four digits of your Social Security number.

Apartments and dorm rooms are legal residences for voting purposes

If you cannot supply acceptable proof of residence, your registration form can be substantiated and signed by one other elector who resides in your municipality, corroborating your residency information. The corroborator must then provide acceptable proof of residence.

Voter registration requirements for Wisconsinites

In order to register to vote in Wisconsin, an individual must:

  1. Be a U.S. citizen
  2. Be age 18 or older on or before election day
  3. Have resided in an election district or ward for 10 days before an election (dorm rooms are legal residences for voting purposes)
  4. Not be disqualified from voting for any reason described in Wisconsin statutes 6.03:
    A. Any person convicted of treason, felony, or bribery that has not been pardoned or completed the terms of his or her sentence including probation, parole or extended supervision
    B. A person who has been determined by a court to be incapable of understanding the objective of the elective process or who is under guardianship
    C. Anyone who has made or become interested, directly or indirectly, in any bet or wager depending on the results of the election
