UW-RF Students Show at World Dairy Expo
Several students at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls participated in
the World Dairy Expo Sept. 28 - Oct. 2. in Madison, Wis.
Approximately 65,000 spectators, including 2,363 international guests from 79
counties, attended the international show.
Dairy cattle exhibitors totaled 1,009 from 37 states with 2,451 dairy cattle
entries exhibited within seven breeds including Ayrshire, Brown Swiss, Guernsey,
Holstein, 481 Jersey, Milking Shorthorn and Red and White Holstein.
UW-River Falls students exhibited in five of the seven breeds at World Dairy
Expo
Bloomer, Wis.-Amanda Koehler, dairy science/pre-vet major showed a Guernsey
Jr. two-year old cow which placed 3rd in the junior show and a Guernsey summer
yearling, which placed 1st in the junior show and 4th in the open show.
CoonValley, Wis.-Charlotte Muenzenberger, agriculture marketing communications
major exhibited a Brown Swiss Fall calf, which placed 26th in the open show.
Eden Valley, Minn.-Cory Salzl, dairy science major exhibited a Red and White
Holstein Jr. two-year-old cow, which placed 18th in the open show.
Ettrick, Wis.-Jenna Wegner, agricultural business major exhibited a Holstein
Jr. three year-old, which placed 3rd in the junior show.
Frederic, Wis.-Brandon Owens, dairy science major exhibited a Jersey summer
yearling, which placed 24th in the open show and a Jersey spring yearling, which
placed 22nd in the open show.
Somerset, Wis.-John Mitchell, dairy science major exhibited a Holstein Fall
Yearling, which placed 7th in the junior show.
