Wyman Series Presents "A Whisper in the Noise" at UW-RF
"A Whisper in the Noise," a band from the Twin Cities, will perform at the UW-River Falls North Hall Auditorium on Sept. 30.
Gorgeous strings, French horn, moody piano and lush orchestration back the band, fronted by West Thordson. Other members include Nick Conner, Chris Quinn, Theodora Wynhoff and Rachel Drehmann.
They recently released a CD, titled "Through the Ides of March," that received rave reviews from newspapers all over the Midwest, including the Pioneer Press and the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Their music has been described in reviews as ethereal and cleverly constructed with beautiful soundscapes and haunting vocals. Reviews of their music have appeared in City Pages.comÑThe Online News and Arts Weekly of the Twin Cities, Delusions of Adequacy, a New York review paper, and the Village Voice.
Whisper's sound falls somewhere between that of the bands Godspeed, You Black Emperor, Peter Gabriel and Joy Division, with a mix of 80s keyboard pop and modern orchestrated brilliance.
