Section IV - The Team Recommendation and Rationale
The Team's recommendations for action, including its recommendation to continue
the accreditation of University of Wisconsin-River Falls, are shown on the attached
Worksheet for the statement of Affiliation Status. During the Team's visit,
the Chancellor requested that the Stipulation on Affiliation Status be removed.
UW-River Falls uses contemporary instructional technology and participates,
or will participate, in sophisticated communication networks and in university
consortia capable of distributing coursework broadly. The Team recommends that
the next comprehensive visit be scheduled in 2007-08. The Team's reasons for
its recommendation are:
(a) The faculty and staff are competent, productive, and committed to the well
being of their University.
(b) Students appreciate the education they receive. They like the campus, which
is safe, functional, and attractive.
(c) The leadership of the campus is experienced and competent; the University
of Wisconsin System has mature governance processes and able leadership; and,
the people of Wisconsin are good supporters of public higher education.
(d) UW-River Falls is fiscally sound; its sources of revenue are comparatively
stable, even growing modestly in net over the last two years.
(e) There is strong support for UW-River Falls among community leaders/supporters
and alumni in the service region.
(f) In the last couple of years, a significant new planning activity has been
completed, Reach for the Future, and implementation of planned change has begun.
(g) UW-River Falls is comfortable with its select mission, and has, over the
years, adapted its academic programming to its mission.
