Joy Scheib
Lecturer of Music Joy Scheib Lecturer of Music Office Phone: 715-425-3858 Ms. Scheib has performed with the Minnesota Opera Chorus in Lucia di Lammermoor, La Bohème, and Don Carlos. She performed three roles in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges. Other roles for the mezzo-soprano include Dido in Dido and Æneas, Mrs. Peachum in The Beggar's Opera, the Fortune Teller in the premiere of Eric Stokes' Apollonia's Circus, Second Lady in The Magic Flute, the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Marcellina in The Marriage of Figaro, and Lucretia in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia. She has performed as soloist in a wide range of oratorios, from Bach to Honegger. She serves as mezzo-soprano section leader and Cantor at the St. Paul Cathedral. Ms. Scheib sang songs of Charles Martin Loeffler with members of the Artaria String Quartet at Viterbo College in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She sang Brahms' Opus 91, Two Songs for Alto, Viola and Piano, with violist Susan Janda at the MacPhail Center for the Arts. On a lighter note, Ms. Scheib has also worked with Joshua and Joseph Scrimshaw. The Scrimshaws are sketch and improvisational comedians in the Twin Cities. She appeared with them during the 2000 Fringe Festival, singing and acting in their one-night opera comedy show.
