  • August 2004 Spanish professor Terrence Mannetter received the Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year Award in the College of Arts and Sciences.

  • Fall 2005 French professor Kristine Butler published the article "1945: Movies and the March Home." American Cinema of the 1940s: Themes and Variations, ed. Wheeler Winston Dixon. Rutgers University Press, 2005: 140-161.

  • Fall 2005-Spring 2006 Spanish professor Terrence Mannetter served as the Wisconsin Teaching Scholar from UW-River Falls through a UW System grant.

  • Fall 2005-Spring 2006 Spanish professor Terrence Mannetter served as the Don Quijote in Wisconsin representative from UW-River Falls through a grant from the Center for the Humanities at UW-Madison.

  • March 2006 Spanish professor Terrence Mannetter published the Text and Concordances of the La Vida de Lazarillo de Tormes: y de sus fortunas y adversidades (Medina del Campo: Mateo & Francisco del Canto, 1554) (New York: Hispanic Seminary of Medieval Studies, 2006).

  • March 2006 Spanish professor Margarita Hendrickson presented “Rigoberta Menchú: testimonio, historia y controversia.” XIV Congreso Internacional de Literatura Centroamericana, Cáceres, Spain, March 29-31, 2006.

  • Spring 2007 Spanish professor Margarita Hendrickson read from the manuscript "Earl González: Louisiana Isleño," at the National Latino Writers Conference, workshop with Oscar Hijuelos Albuquerque, New Mexico May 17-19, 2007.

  • July 2007 Cecilia Bustamante and Terrence Mannetter were both promoted to the rank of Professor of Spanish.

  • September 2007 Spanish Instructor Elizabeth Skwiot is teaching First Year Spanish courses beginning this year, and Masako Lackey is teaching Japanese courses and also serves as advisor to the Japanese Club. We would like to welcome all our new teaching staff to our department.

  • September 2007 Spanish Professor Terrence Mannetter published an article in the Fall 2007 issue of The Voice of WAFLT" entitled "Assessing the Life-Changing Experience of a Study Abroad Program."

  • October 2007 Spanish Professor Terrence Mannetter was named UWRF Faculty Representative to the UW System Office of Professional Development (OPID) Council.

  • October 2007 Spanish Professor Terrence Mannetter participated in a conference entitled, "Al-Andalus: Cultural Diffusion and Hybridity in Iberia 1000-1600" at UW-Madison.

  • November 2007 German Professor Peter Johansson presented a paper at the Wisconsin Association of Foreign Language Teachers in Appleton, WI on November 2nd 2007 entitled, "What I Have to Know About the UW German Placement Test."

  • 2008 (forthcoming) French professor Kristine Butler is publishing “The Man of Heightened Faculties: Aurality, Female Voice and Artistic Identity in Villiers de l’Isle-Adam’s L’Eve Future.” Modern Language Studies.

  • Fall 2008 Spanish professor Terrence Mannetter will be directing the 2008-2009 Fall Semester Winter Interim in Mexico class and J-Term trip.
