Areas of Interest: I am interested in factors that shape students' and faculty members' experiences in math and science
education departments. My research has been focused on factors relatered to motivation and persistence with respect
to math and science tasks and course-taking, the role of communication in learning and research progress, and the
socio-cultural norms of science education programs-and how these norms shape communication practices.
