Rugs and Blankets
Navaho Indians learned the art of weaving blankets and rugs from the Pueblo Indians.
- Materials: raw wool
- Colors: dyes from vegetables
manufactured yarns from the States
- Designs: usually simple geometric designs on a large scale
- Ideas: worked out in weaver's mind
more complicated designs drawn in the sand
- Procedure: usually woven from the bottom up on an upright loom
- Finished product: single ply with design on both sides
