International Development VideosCurricular Resources for International Development: Videos and Curricular MaterialThis project was funded primarily by the University of Wisconsin - System Institute for Global Studies at UW-Milwaukee (IGS), and partially by a University of Wisconsin - River Falls (UWRF) Institutional Enhancement Grant. The grants funded the purchase of 41 videos in the interdisciplinary area of international development (of Africa, Asia, and Latin America), as well as the preparation of curricular material to complement the videos. The List of Videos identifies each video by UWRF department, but most of the videos are appropriate for a variety of subject areas, including those listed as well as other disciplines such as philosophy, religion, area studies, and film. The Curricular Material is arranged by discipline, and varies somewhat for the different videos. It typically includes a “Faculty Summary and Feedback”, “Student List of Questions for Discussion”, and “Faculty Answers to Questions for Discussion”. This material enhances the videos in a number of respects, as described in the Techniques for Using the Curricular Material. Faculty discussion of effective use of videos took place by the UWRF Association for International Development, and this, along with other faculty suggestions is summarized under Faculty Discussion. Student feedback on the videos is valuable and faculty may find the Student Feedback Form to be very useful in obtaining this feedback. For example, we need to hear from our students whether the video holds does the video holds their interest and whether the material is new to them. All faculty and staff throughout the UW-System are entitled to use the videos, which are housed in the UW-River Falls library. For non-UWRF Faculty, videos can be requested through their campus inter-library loan. For other information or suggestions, please contact Project Director, Dr. Jackie Murray Brux. To find information on another UWRF project funded by the Institute for Global Studies, please go to the International Film Collection. |
