FindIt@UWRF

Many article citations have the SFX button button for tracking down the full electronic text of the article.

How do I use SFX button?

Find It is available in most UWRF databases, the search results will display a SFX button button. Clicking on that button will redirect you to a menu of options. Citation information appears at the top of the Find It menu window.

  • Full text, provides links to the full text of the article if available.
  • Holding information, searches the UWRF library catalog for the journal, verify that the library's subscription includes the sought after issue. Need help? Come to or call the Research Help Desk.
  • ILL, (Interlibrary Loan) when the article is not available through the library, order a copy using InterLibrary Loan. Click the Go button and follow the prompts to login to ILL and the system will fill out the form.

New browser windows will open when using Find It. The first is the list of services; this window also contains the citation information from the source database. When you select one of the Find It services, a second new window opens with these results.

Why don't I get a link to full text for my article?

Possible reasons include:

  • An online full text version is not available through the Chalmer Davee Library.
  • Find It linking has not yet been enabled for the journal your article is in. Very recent articles may not yet be loaded on the publisher's web site.

Why are there multiple links for full-text?

In many cases, the library gets full-text for a journal from more than one provider. If one of the databases happens to be temporarily unavailable, you can access the full-text from another.

What do I do now? I clicked on the full text link and only got to the journal's home page or table of contents.

Find It will get as close to the article as it can, depending what the publisher provides. Navigate through the publisher's site to get to the article. Remember that the citation information appears at the top of the Find It menu window.

Why is the button sometimes SFX button and sometimes ?

Most databases allow us to use our customized SFX button button - however, in some cases, the generic SFX button or a text link to Find It@UWRF is displayed.

What should I do if there is no full-text available from the Find It menu?

Check the catalog to see if the library has the item in print format. If the catalog search returns no hits, you may request the item from Interlibrary Loan(ILL).
