How do I schedule a show in the Harriet Barry Gallery or library
exhibit cases? Can I book a show online?
To schedule an exhibit in the library, email the Exhibits Committee Chairperson or call 715/425-3874. You cannot book a show online but you can view the booking calendar to determine whether a location has an opening.
Who may use exhibit space at the library? Can I use exhibit space if I am not affiliated with the university?
Exhibit space at the Chalmer Davee Library is open to the university community, local artists and members of the general public, however, UWRF students, faculty and staff have priority over members of the general public.
Does the library provide any supplies to exhibitors?
The library does provide some supplies
to exhibitors including a step-ladder, easels, shelving/brackets and safe adhesives. To see the complete list, click here.
How may I hang items in the library?
The majority of adhesives, tacks and nails are prohibited in the library. Framed items or textiles can be hung in the gallery using studded metal rods provided by the library. Items can be attached to the walls of the gallery or to walls throughout the library using only approved substances. Sticky-tac is provided by the library and will not damage paint or surfaces.
What are the hours of the Harriet Barry Gallery?
The Harriet Barry Gallery is open the same hours as the library is open. All showings, receptions, set-up and take-down must be conducted during regular library hours. See Library Hours.
Can I hold an artist’s reception in the library?
Receptions may be held in the library atrium. Serving food or beverages is not allowed in the library proper. Exhibitors are responsible for making all arrangements for a reception and must abide by regulations regarding alcoholic beverage consumption on campus.
Does the university offer insurance coverage in the event that an item is damaged or stolen?
The UWRF Office of Risk Management offers insurance coverage for exhibitors. An Art Exhibit Protection Memorandum form must be filled out by the exhibitor and submitted to Risk Management prior to the dates of exhibition. Click here for form and details. |
