Art Seminar 485: Guidelines for Installation Artwork in the Library
Installation Sign-Up Form

Do’s
Please schedule your show in advance. [See Booking Calendar] You are free to use the Harriet Barry Gallery, free standing and recessed wall exhibit cases, as well as most open areas of the library as long as the installation does not block doorways, aisles, exits, etc. or interfere with custodian duties. Installations that are not pre-approved will be dismantled.

Please be prompt about removing your items from the library when your show is finished.

Please feel free to contact Cate with any questions/problems or to brainstorm how you might execute your idea.

Dont’s
Do not use adhesive or nails/tacks on any surface within the library building including walls, ceiling, tile or carpet. The library will provide adhesives, hooks, etc. that will not damage surfaces.

Do not incorporate music or other audible elements, or fragrant/perishable items into your installation.

Misc.
The university will provide insurance coverage (at no cost to you) if you are concerned about the value of items. Click here for form and details. A copy of the Art Exhibit Protection Memorandum must be delivered to the Office of Risk Management prior to the dates of your exhibit.

The Library Exhibits Committee will supply a variety of materials including metal hangers for the gallery, glass shelves and accompanying brackets for use in recessed cases, easels, approved adhesives, etc. Visit the Spaces & Supplies page for a full list.
