The Position:
Description: Tenure-track undergraduate teaching position with the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural Engineering Technology. This is a nine-month, full-time academic position starting in August 2008. The normal teaching load is equivalent to 12 contact hours per semester.
Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses in a lab setting for the Department of Agricultural Engineering Technology. Applicants with expertise in one or more of the broad areas within our current curriculum will be considered. Curriculum areas include: power and machinery, structure and environment, soil and water, food and processing engineering, and electronics and information systems. Additional responsibilities include serving as an academic advisor to undergraduate students and advisor to student organizations, assisting in course curriculum development, and participating in service activities at the department, college and university levels. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate effective communication and interaction with undergraduate students and the agricultural community, advance ties to industries related to agricultural, food and biological systems engineering, and engage is some form of broadly defined scholarly activity.
Qualifications:
Minimum: An M.S. in Agricultural Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or closely related field with demonstrated teaching and/or industry experience. Enthusiasm for interacting with undergraduate students in and out of the classroom. A commitment to promote the principles of a culturally diverse society.
May be considered an asset: A Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or closely related field. Registration as a Professional Engineer. A record of contributions in the candidate's area of expertise with relevant experience in teaching, industry or applied research.
Rank and Salary: Salary range: $60,000 - $90,000, commensurate with degree and experience.
Job Environment:
The Department of Agricultural Engineering Technology has 4 full-time faculty members and nearly 60 majors. The department is one of five within the College of Agriculture , Food and Environmental Sciences which has a total enrollment of approximately 1200 students. The department and college have strong track records in student-faculty research, internships, international experiences, and initiatives related to sustainability.
