Location: This position is located in Facilities Management at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

Salary: Starting salary is between $34,598 to $57,088 per year, depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required. The pay schedule/range is 81-04. This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.

Job Duties: Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities Management, this position functions as the Supervisor for Grounds Maintenance, supervising a team of Facility Repair Workers, Gardeners and Groundskeepers. This position oversees the maintenance and installation of all campus landscaping, including flower and shrub beds, trees, turf and outdoor features, support of outdoor activities including athletics, intramural Student Life and Conferences and Events. Direct seasonal maintenance of all sidewalks, streets and lots to ensure cleanliness and safety. As a working supervisor, up to 30% of this position can be spent performing duties similar to the duties performed by the employees supervised. This position is on call for emergencies and will call in other employees as needed.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Effective supervisory, problem solving, and leadership techniques required to supervise staff. Knowledge of horticultural principles, equipment operation and maintenance, tools, methods, techniques and terminology used in the maintenance and installation of campus landscaping, features, snow and ice control; preventative maintenance programs and the ability to implement an effective program. Must have ability to organize, delegate, and direct a variety of tasks and projects simultaneously; read and understand operation manuals, technical drawings, blueprints and related documents; manage work duties by planning, prioritizing, scheduling, and expediting each request; communicate effectively (oral and written) and the interpersonal skills necessary to interact with coworkers, supervisor, other staff, and the public; and technical skill and dexterity to operate a variety of electronic equipment, including computer stations. Must be able to work outside of regular schedule for emergencies and special events and provide UWRF with contact information to be used in the event of an emergency and be willing to respond in a timely manner. Must have mathematical skills necessary to calculate percentages, ratios, distance, area, volume, and cost estimates as well as budget principles.
