TIPS

Welcome

Minutes for life is created for those individuals who want to start, maintain, or revive their commitment to physical activity. There is no fee or charge to use Minutes 4 Life, only dedication to be physcially active.

This website, brought to you by the Department of Health and Human Performance, allows for individuals to set a monthly goal and tally their minutes of physical activity. You can also find weekly tips on how to add minutes of physical activity to your life. All you have to do is:

-Monthly, make a goal of how many minutes of physical activity you want to achieve. Just click on the “SET YOUR GOAL!” button to the left!

-Weekly, log your minutes of physical activity on the Minutes for Life webpage to be tallied and put toward your monthly goal. Just click on the “LOG YOUR MINUTES!” button to the left!

**Every week you will get an update of how many minutes you have toward your monthly goal.

-To get the weekly tips, just click on the "WEEKLY TIPS" button to the left.

What kind of goal should you set?

As you set your goal keep in mind that the Surgeon General's report on Physical Activity and Health recommends as a  minimum that all adults accumulate 30 minutes of moderate intensity activity 5-7 days per week or engage in vigorous activity 20 minutes, 3 days per week. Yet, remember that ANY physical activity is better than no physical activity. And a little more is even better still.

In addition, here are several links that may help you determine what kind of goal you should set and what kind of activities can help you accumulate those minutes!
