Karla is coordinator of the Dance Program at the University of
Wisconsin Ð River Falls and artistic director of the UWRF Dance
Theatre.
MS and MFA University of Wisconsin-Madison
Ms. Zhe teaches Dance Appreciation, Dance Improvisation, Dance
Composition, Rhythms, Dance for the Elementary School and Dance
Repertory.
HHP Option I advisor.
Karla has been coordinator of the UWRF Dance program and director
of Dance Theatre since 1982. She holds an MS and MFA from the University
of Wisconsin-Madison and is a former faculty member at James Madison
University. Karla has been teaching and choreographing for over
thirty years. Her choreography has been presented in Virginia, North
Carolina, Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota
and at the American College Dance Association’s’ Mid-Atlantic
and Mid West Regional festivals. Karla has been awarded both a University
of Wisconsin System Teaching Fellowship and the College of Education
Outstanding Faculty Award. Karla has traveled to Cuba, Puerto Rico,
Hawaii, and Jamaica to engage in research, and the study of traditional
dance forms. Last year, while on sabbatical, Karla completed a four-year
program at The Pilates and Physical Therapy Center of Seattle and
received advanced teacher certification in The Authentic Pilates‘Method
from Sari Santo in New York City.
Karla has been awarded both a University of Wisconsin System Teaching
Fellowship and the College of Education Outstanding Faculty Award.
Karla has traveled to Cuba, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica to
engage in research, and the study of traditional Afro-Caribbean
dance forms.
