Description: This course is designed for students who want to have a unique experience towards becoming global business leaders. Exploring Turkey with its deep roots in more then eight different civilizations will make it easier for students to understand various cultures they might be exposed throughout their careers. Students will have the opportunity to get in touch with Turkish contemporary culture, its rich history, economic and business environment, and the academic environment as well. Students will meet Turkish business leaders, academics and officials and learn from their experience. It is designed to acquaint participants with the history, politics, culture, business and economic environment of Turkey.
During the tour students will receive direct exposure to Turkish students, people and institutions. Students will attend presentations made by faculty members of Istanbul University and 9 Eylul University-Izmir, which are our host institutions. They will also visit a variety of historical and cultural sites, companies, and government/political venues in Istanbul and Izmir, and the surrounding areas.
Likely events to include:
- Lectures on Turkish business, culture, history, politics and managerial issues given by Istanbul University and Izmir 9 Eylul University faculty.
- Visits to companies chosen by Istanbul University and Izmir 9 Eylul University.
- Visits to associations and governmental institutions.
- Visits of historical places in Istanbul like Hagia Sophia (Cathedral), Blue Mosque, Sultan Ahmet Square
- Grand Covert Bazaar and Istanbul Fish Market.
- Anthropology Museum
