2008 USA Spring Camp Program-Japan
Guy Healy

This is an English language program for Japanese students, kindergarten-age through college. Each camp session is for two nights and three days. The camp program takes place at national camp facilities in the Kanto area of Japan (Tokyo Camps) and in Kumamoto Prefecture (Kyushu Camp). During the program the students from America will act as camp counselors, working with the Japanese students on a variety of English language drills and activities. Counselors will also participate with the Japanese students in recreation activities, meals and variety of social activities.

DATES: (dates below indicate departure and return date from/to USA)

Option A: March 7 – March 14 (1 Kyushu Camp)
Option B: March 7 – March 21 (1 Kyushu Camp & 1 Tokyo Camp)
Option C*: March 7 – March 31 (1 Kyushu Camp & 3 Tokyo Camps)
Option D*: March 15 – March 31 (3 Tokyo Camps)
Option E*: March 19 – March 31 (2 Tokyo Camps)
Option F: March 22 – March 31 (2 Tokyo Camps)

COST/COMPENSATION: Selected students will be responsible for the following to participate on this program.

1. Airfare to/from Japan

Each Option receives a set cash stipend (listed below) to help cover airfare.

2. Meal expenses during hotel stays – estimate: $15 per day. Number of hotel stays varies by Options.

3. Health Insurance -- if student is not already covered by existing policy a very inexpensive travel insurance police can be purchased – estimate: $30

4. Passport (no visa required for U.S. citizens)

5. Personal spending money.


For the students selected, Guy Healy, **Japan** will provide:

1. Cash Stipend to supplement airfare (varies by option):

Option A: $400
Option B: $500
Option C: $650
Option D: $400
Option E: $100
Option F: $400

2. All transportation costs within Japan including airport transfers

3. Hotel and Hostel stays in Japan.

4. All expenses for USA Spring Camp.

5. All expenses for 2-day Japanese Language Camp (Options C, D, E)

6. Food and lodging during all camp sessions


*Application Deadline: December 31, 2007



Selected applicants will be offered a contract by January 20, 2008
