Description: Attend classes, work, and live in Dalkeith House, a palace located 6 miles southeast of Edinburgh. General education courses are taught by University of Wisconsin and University of Edinburgh professors. WIS is designed to enable undergraduate students with at least sophomore standing to participate in a semester or year long educational experience. It will include extracurricular activities to acquaint students with various facets of British culture, history, politics, and daily life. All WIS students are required to perform assigned house duties.
The facility, an 18th century manor house known to the Scots as Dalkeith Palace, was rebuilt in 1701 on the remains of the original Dalkeith Castle built in the 12th century. The house is spacious and provides space for residence life and food service facilities, classrooms, offices, lounge areas, and laundry and recreation rooms.
An international internship program has been established to assist students who are interested in obtaining a practical experience in their field of study.
