Letters from current NSE students

Hi ,
Sorry about the late response. It's been a very hectic summer, but now that I'm in Hilo, I'm loving every minute of it! I have gotten the chance to go on many exciting adventures in the short three weeks that I have been here, including: visiting Hawaiian landmarks, Mount Kileaua, Rainbow Falls and Hapuna Beach. Plus, I've met countless amazing people that I never would have met if I had not taken the plunge through NSE.
This weekend I am taking part in an on-campus club trip to go camping on the Green Sands Beach!
The culture here is so diverse that learning takes place through interpersonal communications daily and from Hawaiian cultural experts in the classroom. Seeing the common agricultural practices that are needed on an island continues to be a very eye-opening experience for me- a Midwestern agriculture student!
Aloha! Jeff

Hey,
All is well in New York :) Classes have been pretty good thus far. The campus is widely diverse, and a bit different than what I've been accustomed to in River Falls, and the Twin Cities in general. There is actually another girl from Wisconsin (Green Bay) in one of my classes who is apart of the NSE program as well.
For our NSE orientation they took us on a yacht cruise along the Hudson River. From there we could see much of the city sky-line as well as Ellis Island and of course the State of Liberty. Aside from school, I've taken residence off campus in a nice part Brooklyn where I've found a job working in a restaurant. I've met a lot of unique people working and being in class. Also, Brooklyn is positioned very close to the city (Manhattan) where I'm currently applying to various internships.
Glad to hear from you,
Brad
