Elementary Education Scholarships
Shirley J. Christenson Scholarship:
Awarded to a deserving woman student who will begin her sophomore year at UWRF as an Elementary Education major.
Jessie M. Davidson-Pionke Memorial Scholarship:
Awarded to a female junior with acceptance into the Teacher Education program as an Elementary Education major with a GPA of 3.0 or above with financial need.
Elizabeth Marie Petrie Dopkins Memorial Scholarship:
Awarded to a woman who has satisfactorily completed 60 or more credits; obtained junior status; a GPA of 3.0 or better; and is making satisfactory progress toward completing her degree in Elementary Education as determined by her advisor. The recipient may receive the scholarship a second year if achieving the donor's goal of bringing education to young people in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Recipient must reapply for the scholarship for a second year.
Marilyn Carlson Eibs Scholarship:
Student must be admitted to Teacher Education as an elementary education major. Preference will be given to a student who has an early childhood education minor.
Paul Gleiter Memorial Scholarship:
Awarded to an Elementary Education major who has completed at least 60 credits, has a minimum GPA of 3.0, and is making satisfactory progress toward completing a degree as determined by the advisor. The recipient may receive for more than one year, but must reapply since the scholarship is not automatically renewed.
Evelyn Sansburn Greaton Scholarship:
Granted to a junior or senior pursuing a degree in Education with elementary or mathematical emphasis who plans to continue at UWRF. An individual may be eligible for more than one year if the selection committee so determines, but must reapply in order to be considered.
James Elmer Holmes Scholarship:
Awarded to incoming freshman students majoring in elementary education. Students must demonstrate ability to contribute to the diversity of the campus community through extra curricular activities, work history, community activities, and life experiences. Must have financial need. Requires at least one letter of recommendation but no more than two. Scholarship is renewable for up to four years contingent upon achievement of a freshman GPA of 2.5, sophomore GPA of 2.75, and junior GPA of 3.00 at UWRF.
Mary Junkman Lorenzen and Glenn Junkman Memorial Scholarship:
Awarded to a UWRF student majoring in Elementary Education
Rowland and Helen Klink Scholarship:
Awarded to elementary education students who are in their sophomore, junior or senior year. Preference will be given to students who have a music minor.
Marion Estenson Jerome Elementary Education Scholarship:
The scholarship is to be awarded to undergraduate students, excluding transfer students, using the following criteria:
- Must be majoring in Elementary Education
- Must be admitted to the Teacher Education Program by the fall semester in which the scholarship is received AND have a minimum of four semesters remaining in the program.
- Scholarship will be renewed for three total semesters as long as the student remains in the major and maintains a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Student must complete the essay section of the application, briefly explaining your leadership positions and activities in high school, college and in the community, and how this involvement led to an education major
- Must be a U.S. citizen
Marian Addy Popov Memorial Scholarship:
Presented to a education major who has attainted Junior status with preference given to a student in Elementary Education. Recipient must make satisfactory progress towards finishing degree and have maintained satisfactory academic average as determined by the advisor.
Margaret and Edward Rock and Peggy and Donald Iverson Scholarship:
Awarded to a student with sophomore standing. Based upon academic achievement, financial need, and promise as a future teacher, this scholarship is presented to a continuing student majoring in Elementary or Secondary Education.
Dora Marie and Barbara Rohl Scholarship:
Awarded to a junior (60 credit hours completed) or senior who has been admitted to the Teacher Education Program and has a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. In odd years (2009-10), the scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in Broad Area Social Studies-History. In even years (2010-11), the scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing the MC-EA, Middle Childhood through Early Adolescent teaching level (elementary education) who plans to teach 4th, 5th or 6th grade. Students who are pursing the early childhood major or minor do not qualify for this scholarship. Recipient must show evidence of having worked on behalf of one or more of the following: the elderly, the mentally or physically challenged, the homeless, the chemically dependent, or in church activities, mentoring programs, kinship program, Y programs, or environmental activities. Recipient of this scholarship must plan to receive his or her Bachelor's Degree within four (4) years.
Emma S. Sabby Memorial Scholarship:
Presented to a student majoring in Elementary Education.
Daniel E. Saxton Scholarship:
Presented to a sophomore or junior preparing to teach in the elementary area. May be continued for one additional year if a satisfactory academic record is attained according to the selection committee.
Fremont C. and Catherine Hoey Schnur Memorial Scholarship:
Awarded to a student on the basis of scholarship, character and promise as a teacher this award is presented to a junior in Elementary Education. Financial need should be considered as factor of several candidates meet the other requirements.
Inez Solum Molstad Memorial Scholarship:
Awarded to a junior or senior who has been accepted into the Teacher Education Program with an Elementary Education major. The student must be a Wisconsin resident, with preference given to a student from a rural area of Wisconsin (defined as a population of less than 5,000).
