Business and Economics
Accounting Department Scholarship:
Awarded to outstanding upper level student(s) majoring in Accounting.
Accounting Society Scholarship:
Awarded to a junior or senior student. Student must be an accounting major, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0, demonstrate financial need, and include an essay about why they have chosen to major in accounting.
Anchor Bank Scholarship:
Provide support to a student with a business related major and a minimum GPA of 2.5.
Business Administration Department Scholarship:
Awarded to outstanding students with a major in Business Administration.
Lew Garrison Coit Scholarship:
Preference given to students taking government or economic related courses. Students must have demonstrated leadership ability and deportment that has been deemed satisfactory.
College of Business and Economics Faculty and Staff Scholarship:
Awarded to a student who has attained sophomore class standing(or higher) at the time of application, who is seeking a major in Business, Economics, or Computer Science and Information Systems and has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The selection committee will be considering the recipient's contributions to the college.
E. S. and Alice M. Davison Scholarship:
Awarded to a student in the College of Education in even numbered fiscal years (Example: 2009-10) only and awarded to a student in the College of Business and Economics in odd numbered fiscal years (Example: 2010-11) only.
Economics Department Scholarship:
Awarded to one student majoring in Economics. Student must have at least sophomore class standing at the time of the application. Completion of both Principles of Microeconomics and Macroeconomics with grades of A or B is required. Must also submit a one-page typed essay. Topic: Why my Economics major is important to me.
First National Bank of River Falls - Prescott COMPASS Scholars Scholarship:
Awarded to a first semester sophomore (30 credits completed by the fall semester of the year in which the scholarship is provided) to encourage and reward the academic achievement, leadership and citizenship of students of color majoring in business administration or a related business field. Must be enrolled at UWRF as a full time student, no fewer than 12 credits per semester. Must demonstrate regular progress towards a degree. Must have minimum GPA of 2.5. Recipient must provide the bank with grade reports within 15 days after the end of each semester. Recipient must meet with academic advisor at least twice per semester. Must write a short essay detailing reasons for studying business and potential future career goals. Scholarship can be renewed for four years with an exception for a fifth year being granted as determined by the bank. Applicants must submit a bank employment application to the Foundation Office, as well as complete the on-line application. Recipient is expected to apply for and accept any federal and state financial aid they are qualified to apply for.
Helen Foust Memorial Scholarship:
Awarded to one student with a Business Administration Major in Marketing, Management or Finance.
Dr. Charles H. C. Kao Scholarship:
Two scholarships will be awarded each year. One to an International student, if one applies, and one to an American student. Students must have attained junior or senior status, have a cumulative GPA of 3.00, and have demonstrated financial need. The International student must be pursuing a major in the College of Business and Economics. Preference will be given to an Economics major. The American student must be majoring in Economics. .
Arnold and Mary Nord Memorial Scholarship:
Based on scholarship, financial need, and potential for contributions in life, this scholarship is awarded on a rotating basis to a student who will be a junior or senior with a major in one or more of the following disciplines: Biology (2009-10), Chemistry (2010-11), Economics (2011-12), Physics (2012-13).
Africanus B. A. Okokon Memorial Scholarship:
Awarded to a junior or senior with a major or minor in Economics who has been on the Dean's list for at least three consecutive semesters, has an overall minimum GPA of 3.5 and a minimum GPA in Economics of 3.4. Preference will be given to minority students, providing all other criteria have been met. If a qualified minority student does not apply, the scholarship will be awarded based on the other criteria.
O. Jan Olson Memorial Scholarship:
The recipient must possess a satisfactory academic record as determined by the Business Administration Department. Recipient should have demonstrated leadership potential in his/her extra curricular activities.
Glenn Potts Leadership Scholarship:
Awarded to a student majoring in Business or Economics. Student must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and have demonstrated leadership qualities during his or her tenure at UWRF. If the student is an entering freshman, prior leadership qualities must have been demonstrated.
Brian Schultz Award for Excellence in Economics Scholarship:
Awarded to a junior or senior Economics major with a cumulative GPA of 3.20.
Sentry Insurance Student Leadership Scholarship:
Awarded to incoming freshman. Students must be in the top 15 percent of their high school graduating class and have significant records of co-curricular leadership and outstanding leadership potential with the intent to pursue a degree in one of the following areas: Business Administration, Computer Science, Accounting, Finance, and Mathematics (Actuarial Science). Financial need will be considered on the informal basis, especially as a tie breaker consideration. Scholarship is renewable for up to four years as long as the recipient maintains a GPA of 3.3 or above and continues to pursue a degree in one of the above named areas.
Gilbert N. Smith Scholarship:
The scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in economics who has an overall grade point average (GPA) of not less than 3.0, a GPA greater than 3.0 in economics, and has completed not less than 60 semester credits with at least 12 of these in economics.
Earl J. Wyman Scholarship:
A renewable single scholarship in Business Administration. Funds from this scholarship shall be restricted to the payment of tuition, books and materials, and other University fees and charges. Eligibility for the scholarship shall be restricted to a student matriculating at the junior, senior or graduate level. Preference given to a student majoring in Labor and Industrial Relations.
