University of Wisconsin - River Falls Foundation Scholarships

English

 

Robert R. and M. Susan Beck Memorial Scholarship:
Awarded to an outstanding sophomore or junior who is an English, English Education, or TESOL major and has a minimum GPA of 3.0.


Olaf A. and Grace Pilgrim Bloom Scholarship
:
Awarded to one or more students at the University of Wisconsin - River Falls who are majoring in English.


Francis P. Chisholm/Walter J. Engler Memorial Scholarship:

Awarded to a junior English major on the basis of achievements and promise in the field of literary scholarship.


Nicholas J. and Inga Karolides English Education Senior Excellence Award:

Recipient is English Education major; undergraduate or graduate student; GPA and performance in English Composition Theory, Literature for Adolescents, and Techniques of Middle/Secondary Education: English.


Vera M. Moss Scholarship:

Awarded to a junior or senior whose major resides in the College of Arts and Sciences, with preference given to an English Education major with minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3. Preference given to a female student.


Mulvey-Williams Scholarship:

Student must have attained freshman or sophomore status, be an English major, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.


Margaret Odegard Scholarship :

Awarded to an English major who will be a junior or senior with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA.


E. J. Prucha Memorial Scholarship:

Awarded to a sophomore with a GPA of 3.0 or higher for consistent excellence in written and verbal communication skills.


Lloyd and Alberta Ruesink Scholarship:

Awarded to a student that has reached sophomore or junior status. Student must be enrolled in an English Education or Agricultural Education degree program. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Must have demonstrated financial need.


Paula Soli Stenberg Memorial Scholarship:

Awarded to a student who has been accepted into the Teacher Education Program, seeking licensure in secondary education, and majoring in either Biology or English. The scholarship will be awarded in alternate years to a Biology (odd years, ex. 2009-2010) or English (even years, ex. 2010-2011) major.


Ruth and David Wood Scholarship:

  • Awarded to a junior or senior majoring in English Education OR a graduate student
  • Must be a non-traditional student defined as one who is returning to school after an interruption in seeking a degree; or after pursuing a career other than teaching English; or returning to change career paths from something outside of education
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.2 in English and education courses
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • By the time of application, student must have received a 3.0 cumulative GPA in any of the following courses:
    1. Composition Theory
    2. Literature for Adolescents
    3. Techniques of Middle/Sec Ed English
    4. Multicultural Education
