University of Wisconsin - River Falls Foundation Scholarships

Biology

 

BioDiagnostics Scholarship:
Awarded to one student with a Biology major. Student must be a sophomore (30 credits) at the beginning of the semester for which the award is provided. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to academic excellence over financial need.  The scholarship is renewable for three additional years if the student meets the following criteria: Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0, remain in the major and complete a minimum of 30 credits per year.

Clarke Gary Scholarship:
Student must be sophomore, junior or senior status; biology major, documented interest in pursuing a career in the field of biology and have a minimum GPA of 2.8 or higher.

Dr. Martin and Joyce Laakso Scholarship:
Awarded in the Life Sciences to student who has attained sophomore status.  Same student cannot receive this scholarship for more than three years in a row.

Dr. Catharine Lieneman Scholarship:
Presented to a student who has completed 90 credits toward the Biology curriculum; demonstrated continued study in Botany or its closely related areas; has a minimum 3.25 GPA and plans to continue at UWRF.

Dr. Henry Tranmal Scholarship:
Awarded to sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate students in Biology who plan to continue at UW-RF. Also awarded in Chemistry and Physics.

Dr. Woodrow-Marti Scholarship:
Must have attained at least sophomore standing to apply.  Must be a biology major, have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 - 3.8, and be involved in at least two extracurricular activities including but not limited to fraternities/sororities, campus clubs, student government.  Student must have at least one leadership role in one of the organizations including president, vice president, treasurer, events coordinator.  GPA cannot exceed 3.8.

Arnold and Mary Nord Memorial Scholarship:
Based on scholarship, financial need, and potential for contributions in life, this scholarship is awarded on a rotating basis to a student who will be a junior or senior with a major in one or more of the following disciplines: Biology (09-10), Chemistry (06-07), Economics (07-08), Physics (08-09).

Paula Soli Stenberg Memorial Scholarship:
Awarded to a student who has been accepted into the Teacher Education Program, seeking licensure in secondary education, and majoring in either Biology or English. The scholarship will be awarded in alternate years to a Biology (odd years, ex. 2009-2010) or English (even years, ex. 2010-2011) major.

Gary A. and Emogene J. Thibodeau Scholarship:
Recipient must have attained junior status.  Must be pursuing a degree in Biology.  Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Must have demonstrated financial need.  Only one student may receive the scholarship.
