Resources

There are numerous resources for UWRF FANs to track public policy issues that affect the University.

In January 2009, Wisconsin began a two-year legislative session to address Wisconsin policy. During the course of that cycle, there will be dozens of pieces of legislation that will affect UWRF. These range from the critical state budget to a host of bills that could affect access, student health, faculty members' ability to teach, and employment issues.

There are many resources available so that you can fully appreciate the scope of an issue and the many alternatives.

Here are some of the more useful sources on the internet:

"A Growth Agenda for Wisconsin".
The strategic plan of the University of Wisconsin System addresses access, affordability, and growth. The proposal asks funding for UWRF to increase its freshmen retention rate; diversity recruitment in teacher education; to improve the technology that allows students to more easily track their transfers of credits from other institutions; and planning funding for our proposed Health & Human Performance Building.

UW System Legislative Update.
Each Friday during the legislative session, the UW System prepares an analysis of proposed legislation affecting the UW System. The digest also tracks what legislation passed, and will keep you informed on what the legislature will be discussing in upcoming weeks. As a FAN member, you will receive this electronically each week. You can visit the archives of past editions here.
