History

  • Founded in 1874 as the 4th State Normal School and dedicated on Sept. 2, 1875.
  • In 1951 the school was designated as Wisconsin State College at River Falls.
  • The name was changed to Wisconsin State University - River Falls when graduate courses were added in 1964.
  • In 1971, the state universities merged and the name became the University of Wisconsin - River Falls.
