Welcome to the Faculty and Academic Staff Development Program

OPID System Initiatives

The Office of Professional & Instructional Development, serves as a statewide faculty development resource for University of Wisconsin System institutions. Established in 1977 as the Undergraduate Teaching Improvement Council, it was first led by a council of campus representatives who focused primarily on teaching improvement. As the newly named OPID, it has expanded its emphases to meet the broader professional needs of faculty and academic staff with programming on topics such as student learning, the scholarship of teaching, career stages, and faculty roles and rewards. OPID's Council remains essential to its operation, both as an advisory board and as a liaison between System and its campuses.

OPID funds the following programs:

UNDERGRADUATE TEACHING AND LEARNING GRANTS
CONFERENCE DEVELOPMENT GRANTS
FACULTY COLLEGE

WISCONSIN TEACHING FELLOWS
WISCONSIN TEACHING SCHOLARS

All applications for OPID funding must go through the FASDB. Look for announcements regarding upcoming deadlines in Facstf-l e-mails.

UWRF's OPID representatives are Doug Johnson and Nan Jordahl. Contact either of them for additional information.
