Printer service and toner cartridge informationUWRF has signed service agreements with two local professional printer businesses. The companies are LaserSharp, Inc. of Hastings, MN and Smith Microtechnology out of St. Paul, MN. The service agreements we have selected allow departments to choose their level of service based on their needs. To receive serviceSubmit a Printer Service Request Form for all printer issues. DoTS will do the initial warranty research, provide basic problem diagnosis and resolve basic repair requests. If contracted vendor service is required and the printer is under warranty, we will contact Smith Microtechnology to arrange the repair. All costs for repairs of this type should be covered by the warranty (parts and labor). If the printer’s warranty is expired and DoTS is unable to repair the printer, DoTS will contact LaserSharp, Inc. on your behalf to arrange repair. LaserSharp offers two service packages; Total Laser Care (TLC) and Time and Materials (T&M). Total Laser Care (TLC)Many campus laser printers can be covered under the LaserSharp TLC service program. Under this program, only Lasersharp remanufactured cartridges are purchased and used in the printer. If a printer is enrolled in this program, Lasersharp will perform any needed repairs without charge to the customer. See the table at the end of this page for TLC toner cartridge cost. LaserSharp guarantees remanufactured toner cartridges for a minimum of one year. LaserSharp brand cartridges are guaranteed for three years. Time and Materials (T&M)If the customer chooses not to participate in the TLC program, the other out-of-warranty service option is Time and Materials. For this option, the customer can purchase laser cartridges from any vendor, including HP brand cartridges, other brand re-manufactured cartridges or cartridges from LaserSharp. LaserSharp guarantees remanufactured toner cartridges for a minimum of one year. LaserSharp brand cartridges are guaranteed for three years. If a printer is enrolled in this program, all materials and labor will be paid for by the customer out of a departmental budget. All printer service calls sent to LaserSharp are guaranteed a response within 24 hours of the initial contact. DoTS will contact LaserSharp on behalf of the customer to coordinate and track all service calls. DoTS may be able to provide a spare LaserJet printer if a printer will be out of service for an extended period of time. This will be determined on a case-to-case basis.
