Using Projector Remote Controls

There are many different types of remotes used on the UWRF campus. This web page is designed to show you how to use each remote depending on what model the projector is. Listed below are the different models of projectors and links to the remote that correlates with them.

3-M Remotes:

Standby/On

The standby/on button will allow the user to turn on and off the projector. Press once to turn on the projector and then once more to turn the projector in standby mode. To turn off, press the standby/on button twice.

Blank

The BLANK button will mute the video display of the projector. The projector will switch to showing a blank screen. This is useful if there is a time when you desire that nothing be displayed, but don't want to turn off the projector.

Video

The VIDEO button cycles the projector between three different inputs. This button is used if you want to display the VCR/DVD output. The first time the button is pushed, you will see "Detecting ... Video". This mode shows the VCR/DVD player output. If pressed again, the display will change to say "Detecting ... S-Video". This mode is not used, and will not display anything. A third pressing of the button will show "Detecting ... Component". This mode is also not usd and will not display anything. Another button press will cycle back to the first mode.

RGB

The RGB button cycles the projector between three different inputs. This button is used if you want to display the computer screen. The first time the button is pushed, you will see "Detecting ... RGB1". This mode displays the computer, and is the one most commonly used. The next push of the button will show "Detecting ... RGB2". This mode is not used and will not display anything. The third time it is pushed, the projector will display "Detecting ... DVI". This mode is also not used and will not display anything. Another button press will cycle back to the first mode.

Menu

This group of buttons controls the projector's menu. This includes things such as brightness, contrast, position and other such things commonly found on displays. You will most likely not need to use these buttons.

Magnify

This group of buttons will zoom the projector in. You can use the + and - buttons to zoom in and out. The OFF button will reset it back to its original zoom.

Volume

This group of buttons controls the volume for the speakers. You can increase the volume using the up arrow and decrease the volume using the down arrow. The MUTE button will turn off sound.

Reset

Allows the user to reset the projector if problems occur. This will restart the projector, thus reconstructing an image.

Mute

Allows the user to mute any audio coming from the computer and the projector.

Left and Right Click Options

These options are on the newest 3M remotes. These can take mouse control on the projector, and instructor can navigate on the computer through the projector remote.

Timer

This option allows the user to set a time for the projector to show a display at a certain time. This is useful when taking a break or waiting for class to begin.

Freeze

This option freezes the image that is presented on the screen.

Sharp Remotes:

On

The On button properly turns the projector On. To turn OFF, the user would use the standby button and press it twice.

Standby

This is the main power button of the remote. In order to turn on the projector, one must press the ON button once. To turn the projector OFF, press once for standby mode, then again to fully turn off the device.

Computer/ DVI/ Video/ S Video

These buttons control the input on a number of the sharp remotes. This function allows you to switch inputs; the computer input will allow you to switch between the computer and other lab devices. The DVI input allows lab users to hook up laptops to the projector. The video and s-video inputs are for other devices that may be hooked up to the computer/projector. These options are not used in TEC classrooms, rather you would use the extron switch.)

Menu

Allows user to control different settings in the menu option. Settings like brightness/contrast, light quality, bulb hours, and other options are available.

Break Timer

This button allows you to set a timed break so that the image is muted and comes back on when the set time is up.

Freeze

This button allows you to freeze the image that you have on the projector to show a snapshot of a segment .

Pointer

The pointer button allows you to use a laser pointer.

Auto Sync

Automatically finds the first connected source and connects to it. This can be useful if you don't know what input an image is coming from.

Eco+Quiet

This button allows the fan to make less noise, and lowers the power that is put into the projector to make the image, so the image is a bit more dim.

Resize

This option will help you adjest the image to the screen, Simply press the resize button and it should automatically adjust the image to the size of the screen.

Enlarge

Allows user to enlarge/ minimize the image on the screen. The +/- function makes it easy to make image larger or smaller.

Panasonic:

powerPower

This red button will allow the user to turn on/off the projector. Press once to turn projector on. To put projector in standby mode, press the power button once while projector is on. To turn off the projector, press the power button twice.

Computer/Network/Video

These buttons are used to switch the projector image from the computer to the network or video.

Laser

This button allows you to use a laser to point at specific images on the screen in the classroom while teaching.

Menu

Allows user to control different settings in the menu option. Settings like brightness/contrast, light quality, bulb hours, and other options are available.

Digital Zoom

This button allows the user to zoom in on the picture to see things more accurately.

Side By Side

The feature Side by side allows the user to have both the computer screen up and the video option up at the same time.

Video

Lens Shift

This option lets the user change the position of the lens on the display screen.

Focus

This options allows the user to manually focus the lens of the projector for a sharer more clear picture.

Zoom

This option allows the user to zoom in closer to a specific image display.

Blank

Reset

Aspect

This option allows for the user to change the aspect ratio on the screen. This will change the width and the height of the projected image.
