Adobe Acrobat PDF formatSome forms and other documents available on the DoTS web site, and on the Internet in general, are available in Adobe Acrobat ® pdf format. The advantage of the Adobe Acrobat ® format is that it will display and print just the way it was intended to do. The disadvantage is that you will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the file. If you do not already have Adobe Acrobat ® Reader installed on your computer, you can get it from Adobe's web site. The Acrobat Reader is free. When you find the download link for the Acrobat Reader software, download the file to a specific place on your computer, find the file once it has been downloaded, and finally install the Acrobat Reader by double-clicking the file you downloaded. Once the Reader has been installed, when you click on a web page link that points to a PDF file, it will open the file in your Acrobat Reader. You can view the file from within the software or print the entire document. If you want to create Adobe Acrobat files, you will need the full version of Adobe Acrobat. This software is not free, but is available for university-owned computers under a UW-System site license. Click here to request Adobe Acrobat. If you need assistance installing Adobe Acrobat Reader ® or in viewing or printing Acrobat Reader files, send a request for assistance to the DoTS Services HelpDesk.
