Technology Services HelpDesk
Welcome! The UWRF DoTS HelpDesk is available to help you
with your technology needs. Located in Hagestad Hall our friendly Technology Services Staff
are eager to help you.
- We are currently undergoing a merging of our two services into one single point of contact (FredNet and DoTS), as of right now both FredNet Services and the DoTS Staff can be reached at (715)-425-3687. We provide front-line technical support to the students and staff on campus. We strive to help students and staff alike with their technical problems as quickly as possible.
Services
Technolgy Services staff have been trained to assist you in various ways. Information
or assistance that you can expect from the HelpDesk include:
- General assistance using the computer labs.
The HelpDesk Technicians can help you with the equipment in the labs; ie, scanners,
printers, software.
- Activation of your Falcon account.
- General assistance with various software
programs supported by DoTS services in the computer labs.
- Provide up-to-date status reports
on the network and data communications.
- Training is conducted each month in the labs on various technology needs.
If you would like to request one on one training or a workshop for your class
or dept. please contact us and we will work with you. Please visit the Training
and Workshops area for information.
- The hours of operation of the DoTS HelpDesk are normally the same
as the Computer Lab Hours, although we are currently on our summer schedule (see Summer Hours below
).
The HelpDesk is not intended to provide tutorial help for students learning
to program nor in-depth help in using various departmental software. We will,
however, help when we can with general questions about using common desktop
applications.
Contacting Technology Services
If you are in need of immediate assistance, please visit us at Hagestad Hall
or call the HelpDesk at 715 425-3687. A technician will gladly assist you.
If you do not need immediate assistance, please try the Services
area of this web site. There you can request many services such as make reservations,
send us a trouble report, or request network accounts, site license software,
telephone services, etc.
You may also contact us thru email. When you send a message to dots@uwrf.edu,
this creates a task in our task software. A DoTS staff member will respond
to your request with an appropriate resolution.
Who does the HelpDesk support?
- All students living in the 10 Residence Halls.
- All faculty and staff.
- The computer labs in Residence Halls (each contain at least 4 computers; South Fork Suites does not contain a lab).
- The printers in each of the Residence Hall lobbies.
Limited support
- At this time the HelpDesk provides limited supportto off-campus students. The HelpDesk can provide wireless and software support, with limited hardware support to those coming to campus from an offsite location.
Where will you be located in the future?
- Starting January 1st 2010, we will be moving into the basement of Hagestad Hall.
